Pinanga sylvestris is a species of tree in the Arecaceae, or palm tree, family. It grows 2–6 m tall, sometimes in bundles, shade tolerant, from Meghalaya (India) to Vietnam, Laos and Zhōngguó/China. The palm grows in similar dense and semi-dense communities in Laos and Vietnam. The fruit of all of this palm may replace areca nut in the betel quid, and sometimes the sla snga are used as bait in fishing, while the sla khmau and kânndaôr have their terminal bud and pith of the trunk harvested for food. In Zhongguo/China a common name is hua shan zhu (Pinyin)
نخل پینانگا سیلوستریس گونه ای کمیاب از نخل ها بومی جنوب شرق آسیا است
این گونه از نخل قد متوسط دارد. اصولا تمام گونه های پینانگا Pinanga کوتاه قد هستند و کف جنگل ها رشد میکنند جایی که نور کم است
تمام این خصوصیات (رشد در نور کم و قد کوتاه بودن) این نخل را بسیار مناسب برای کاشت گلدانی و نگهداری داخل اتاق یا آپارتمان میکند
