Tephrosia candida, the white hoarypea, is a perennial shrub, native to India, in the legume family. It has been introduced to Malesia, South America, Africa, South East Asia and Australia
The genus name, Tephrosia, derives from the Greek tephros (ash-coloured) and refers to the fact that most of the species are covered with grey hairs
The species epithet, candida, derives from the Latin adjective, candidus,-a,-um, meaning pure white
لوبیا خاکستری (تفروسیا کاندیدا) گونه ای گرمسیری از لوبیا است که بومی مناطق گرمسیری هند است
در زبان لاتین تفروسیا به معنای خاکستری است.
غلاف بذرها تقریبا اندازه لوبیا سبز است غلاف بذر این گیاه مخملی و پرزدار است. تمام گونه های تفروسیا غلاف پرز دار دارند
گیاهی بسیار مقاوم است که به نوع خاک حساس نیست و بسیار مقاوم است
این لوبیا خوراکی است و منبع غنی از پرئتئین است.
