Syagrus romanzoffiana, the queen palm or cocos palm, is a palm native to South America, introduced throughout the world as a popular ornamental garden tree. S. romanzoffiana is a medium-sized palm, quickly reaching maturity at a height of up to 15 m (49 ft) tall, with pinnate leaves having as many as 494 pinnae (leaflets), although more typically around 300, each pinna being around 50 centimetres (18 in) in length and 3–5 centimetres (1–2 in) in width
The queen palm is planted in many tropical and subtropical areas. It is very popular as an ornamental tree and much used in urban landscaping in Brazil and Argentina. It is quite hardy, to -5 °C (zone 9a), but the dead fronds must be pruned to keep the tree visually pleasing. Its fruits are edible and sometimes eaten; consisting of a hard nut surrounded with a thin layer of fibrous flesh that is orange and sticky when ripe. The flavour is sweet and could be described as a mixture of plum and banana
نخل سایاگروس رومانزفیانا یا نخل کویین (نخل ملکه) گونه ای نخل بومی برزیل است
این گونه از نخل خویشاوند نزدیک انواع دیگر سایاگروس است که با نخل نارگیل خویشاوندی نزدیک هستند حتی دانه های این نخل شبیه نارگیل، سه تا چشم دارد و حتی مغز دانه هم شبیه نارگیل سفید و خوراکی ولی سفت است
نخل سایاگروس رومانزفیانا درختی متوسط قد با برگهای زیبا است و میوه های نارنجی آن که بذری شبیه نارگیل به سایز کوچک دارد، خوراکی هستند
میوه های زرد رنگ این نخل خوراکی است و طعمی شبیه ترکیب طعم زرد آلو و موز دارد
بذر این نخل زیبا با میوه های خوراکی توسط تیم بانک بذر جنوب در ایران معرفی و عرضه میگردد
