Andrographis paniculata, commonly known as green chiretta, is an annual herbaceous plant in the family Acanthaceae, native to India. Andrographis paniculata is used in traditional medicine to treat infectious diseases and fevers. In the lab, it exhibits antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and immunostimulating properties. It is widely cultivated in Southern and Southeastern Asia, where it has been believed to be a treatment for bacterial infections and some diseases. Mostly the leaves and roots have been used for such purposes; the whole plant is also used. The plant does best in a sunny location. The seeds are sown during spring
Traditional Use
Andrographis paniculata has been used in Siddha and Ayurvedic medicine, and is promoted as a dietary supplement for cancer prevention and cure
In the traditional medicine of India, Andrographis paniculata has also been used for jaundice therapy
Andrographis paniculata has also traditionally been used in India and China for the common cold and influenza. A 2017 (pre COVID-19) meta-analysis evaluating Andrographis paniculata for acute respiratory tract infections (ARTI) indicated possible support for its efficacy and safety, but cautioned that the trials reviewed were of poor quality and thus not conclusive
COVID-19
At COVID-19 outbreak in December 2020, the health ministry approved the usage of the plant extract for a pilot alternative treatment program. In July 2021 use of green chiretta to treat asymptomatic COVID patients. A 2012 review found that A. paniculata extracts could inhibit expression of several cytochrome C enzymes and thus interfere with metabolism of other pharmaceuticals. A 2019 review finds that A. paniculata compounds have poor solubility and relatively low potency, and that a semi-synthetic injectable derivative can cause sometimes life-threatening allergic reactions
چیرتا گیاهی دارویی و بسیار پرکاربرد است که در درمان سرطان تا درمان کرونا به کار گرفته شده است و تحقیقات مختلفی روی آن انجام شده است
این گیاه به قدری برای سلامتی و دوری از بیماری ها مفید است که پودر یا عصاره آن را مانند یک مکمل غذایی به شکل قرض یا کپسول مصرف میکنند
با توجه به ناشناخته بودن این گیاه در ایران تیم بانک بذر جنوب تصمیم گرفت تا بذر این گیاه را در ایران عرضه و خواص آن را در ایران معرفی کند گیاهی که از هند تا چین در طب سنتی کاربرد دارد ولی در ایران ناشناخته مانده است. توصیه ما تحقیقات دانشگاه های کشاورزی روی این گیاه دارویی است تا بتوانیم قدمی جدید در علم گیاهان دارویی کشور برداریم
این گیاه در طب سنتی برای درمان تب و عفونت، التهاب، سرطان، تقویت کننده سیستم ایمنی بدن و دارای آنتی اکسیدان های دافع بیماری ها است.
