Syagrus x costae (Syagrus cearensis x Syagrus coronata) (coco-babo) is a species endemic to the state of Pernambuco, thriving in the tablelands 250km west of Recife, around the city of Garanhuns (600m elevation) The species is a nice looking natural fertile hybrid between S. cearensis and S. coronata, has large edible fruits 3cm diameter
Cold hardy and drought tolerant. In the natural habitat they reach 8 to 10°C in the winter and the average precipitation there is less than 800mm, and not so regularly distributed, some years it hardly rains there at all. It is common in semi-arid parts of state, but seldom seen near our humid coast (Atlantic forest) or in Recife, and never employed in landscape
نخل سایاگروس کاستی گونه ای هایبرید از نخل بومی برزیل است. این گونه هایبرید بارور است و دانه هایی قابل جوانه زدن تولید میکند
همانند دیگر سایاگروس ها با نارگیل خویشاوند نزدیک هستند حتی دانه های این نخل شبیه نارگیل، سه تا چشم دارد و حتی مغز دانه هم شبیه نارگیل سفید و خوراکی ولی سفت است
نخل سایاگروس کاستی درختی متوسط قد با برگهای زیبا است
میوه های آن خوراکی است و طعم انبه و زردآلو دارد همانند دیگر سایاگروس ها
بذر این نخل زیبا با میوه های خوراکی توسط تیم بانک بذر جنوب در ایران معرفی و عرضه میگردد
